P7 2025-2026

End of Term 3

Primary 7

We have had a very busy and eventful Term 3! We are looking forward to Term 4 and all of the learning opportunities there are to be had.

Numeracy

We have completed three numeracy topics this term: Fractions, Decimals and Percentages; Algebra and Negative Numbers.

Some of this learning consisted of calculating simple percentages of a quantity and using this knowledge to solve problems in everyday contexts. We are also able to explain why a number line can extend to include numbers less than zero and we investigated how these numbers occur and are used in real life contexts. We enjoyed using function machines to solve algebraic equations.

Literacy

We have continued with our reading, tools for writing and spelling lessons. In our writing lessons we have been focussing on improving our use of punctuation and have done this by writing in different genres: functional; imaginative and personal.

Our class novel this term has been ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell. This is an exciting book which we have all enjoyed. Our Reflective Reading lessons were based on this story.

IDL

We have covered two contexts for learning this term, Our Global World and Our Spiritual World. We enjoyed learning more about Scottish history and culture, performing dances, songs and poems. We also had the opportunity to celebrate ‘Africa Week’ in our school, learning songs, stories, dances and traditions. We spent some time learning about Malawi and comparing our life here in Scotland.

‘Our Spiritual World’ introduced us to Judaism. We enjoyed learning about the beliefs, place of worship, artefacts, traditions and celebrations.

We are very much looking forward to performing our play ‘Easter Praise!’ We have been learning our scripts and practising the music with Mr Horton.

In Term 4 we will continue to learn from all areas of the curriculum. We are looking forward to our residential trip to Tomintoul. We will also be busy preparing for The Sacrament of Confirmation.
