Term 4 in Primary 5/6

We are really looking forward to our final term of Primary 5/6.

Numeracy:

This term we will be starting by looking at time. We will then move onto measure, where we will focus on capacity, length, volume, weight, perimeter and area. We will then finish the term looking at shape, position and movement . Every Friday we will also have a problem solving lesson helping to consolidate our knowledge. 

Literacy:

This year we are continuing the CYPIC approach to writing. We have already reached the 100% club for both vocabulary,connectives and openers. We are now focusing on Punctuation. Through CYPIC we will be focussing on many different genres of text, which will like through our IDL topics. We will continue to focus on spelling and reading fluency through using Big Cat and Book Detective. 

IDL:

We have a busy term ahead looking at ‘A Trip in a Time Machine’ looking at the Victorian Era, where we will learn all about Victorian lifestyles across different classes and compare it to today’s world.  Afterwards we will move onto The Great Outdoors’ with a specific look at the importance to outdoor learning. 

Other Information:

We will continue our sports coaching session on Tuesdays. A PE session will also be completed on Wednesday morning. Please ensure children wear appropriate footwear for this.

We have had a fantastic year in primary 5/6 . We are looking forward to our final term.
