Term 4 in Primary 2

We have had a lovely start to the last term of Primary 2! Here are some of the things we have been up to and what’s happening the rest of the term:

Numeracy

In numeracy, we have started our new topic of multiplication and division. We have learned our counting in 5s and have started to look at equal groups (division) as well as recognising the division sign and what this means. Later, we will be looking at adding equal groups (multiplication), using arrays as a strategy before looking at some word problems involving division and multiplication. With Mrs Jadid, Primary 2 have been learning fractions and will move onto rounding later on in the term. 

Literacy

We have continued to work in our RWI and Big Cat groups. Lots of us have been working on new sounds or practicing some from last term! Within the class this term, we will be focusing on prediction and character descriptions (including using adjectives) as well as some other literacy activities.

IDL

Our current context for learning is ‘A Trip In a Time Machine’ where we are looking at Transport from the past. We have looked at old vs new transport, as well as creating charcoal pictures of a horse and carriage as well as labelling this. Later, we will learn about other forms of transport from the past, such as steam trains and early invented cars. We also will have a trip to the Transport Muesum. 

After this, we will move onto our next context for learning “A Great Adventure”. Which includes our sports day, moving up afternoons with our new teacher, making profiles for our new teacher and having a class picnic with parents. 

RE

We recently showcased our P2 Assembly to parents and the rest of the school which focused on the story of the lost sheep. We are now moving on to learning about Mary for the month of May. After this, we will be looking at bible stories such as ‘The First Four Disciples’ and ‘Noah’s Ark’. 

Health and Wellbeing / Physical Education / other

We are currently working on our Netball skills in P.E. Next week, we are moving onto our Athletics unit, where we will be practicing our sports day activities. Later in the term, we will be completing a small topic on Rounders too. 

In Science, we are currently learning about the human body, P2 have showed lots of interest in this!

This session, we have our music sessions again with Mr Horton, we have been enjoying learning lots of new music!
