Mary’s Meals Backpack Project
Mrs McFarlane and P6 are taking part in the Mary’s Meals Backpack project!
Mary’s Meals provides one meal to some of the world’s poorest children every school day. They are now feeding 1,035,637 children across the world. “Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.”
Many children receiving Mary’s Meals don’t have basic learning tools such as pencils and notepads. We want to help these boys and girls in the poorest countries!
Do you have any second hand school items? Could you spare some money to buy some new school items? Could you or your family or friends fill a backpack or two?
We are collecting a backpack for a boy or girl filled with:
A pencil case | Pens, pencils, rulers, sharpeners, erasers and any other stationery | A notepad |
A small ball or toy | A spoon | A towel |
Clothing (top and bottoms) for ages 4-12 | Sandals or flip flops. | Toothbrush, toothpaste and soap (not liquid) |
Please bring all backpack donations to Mrs McFarlane as soon as you can! If you are not in P6, P6 children can collect your back packs from you. Imagine the difference we could make to these children’s lives!

Latest Update: All children in the school should have received a letter home about the project. 6 P6 pupils so far have managed to take in a backpack but we still need lots more to help the children!
