P2-4

Welcome back!

Welcome back everybody! Primary 3 Blue have had a fantastic first week back at school. We’ve been busy getting to know each other and settling into all the new routines. We are looking forward to all the exciting things we are going to be learning about this year!

We have been busy revising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables! We like playing ‘underwater times tables’ on our interactive whiteboard!

We are busy consolidating some of the sounds we have learnt during Primary 2! This week we are looking at ‘ue’, ‘aw’ and ‘oi’.

This is what we will be learning during the next few weeks.

Phonics: We are going to be consolidating some of our previous phonemes – au   ew  ow  ou  igh   y   i_e    o_e    e_e

Our new spelling words will be –  three, again, these, people, too, school, some, never, know, yellow, father, mother

Maths:  The first three weeks will be busy revising times tables and number bonds to 20 with some basic addition and subtraction. Maths lessons will then link in with our new Pirate topic. We will be building on our current knowledge of direction and position looking at compass points and coordinates. We will also be learning about time and will be recognising different times on analogue and digital clocks. We are also going to be reading and interpreting timetables when looking at life aboard a pirate ship!

O’ Clock and Half Past Game This game will help your child revise o’ clock and half past. We will also be looking at quarter past and quarter to the hour.

Topic: Our new topic will be Pirates! We are going to be researching some famous pirates and their ships. We will also be able to design our own pirate flag and create our own Pirate character!

Pirate Facts This website is child friendly and has plenty of fun facts about Pirates, Pirate jokes and the Pirate Code – ARR!

Reminders: We have gym on Monday mornings with Mrs Armstrong. Please remember to bring gym kit. This should include a pair of shorts, a white t shirt and gym shoes. Please write your child’s name on all clothes items as well as packed lunch and snack boxes. This helps us to easily identify missing items! We have snack everyday after break time. Your child is allowed to bring one piece of fruit or vegetable to eat. Please do not bring fruit juice or other fruit drinks. We have a water fountain in school and pupils may bring a bottle of water to drink only. Thank you for all your support. It has been a busy couple of weeks!

Our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening will be held on the 16th September. I look forward to meeting you all then.
