P2-4

Photographs of Our Learning

We have had a very busy few weeks in Primary 3 Blue and have been learning lots of fun and exciting things!

We read the BFG and then made our own dream-catchers. They look fantastic! We had a lot of fun writing dream labels for the BFG’s jars. Here they are displayed in his cave!

In maths we were revising halving and doubling. Here we are playing some mental maths games!

We are also learning about position and direction. We have been making treasure maps to practice using coordinates.

We have been enjoying playing football with Aberdeen Football Club!

We have loved learning about Pirates!

We learnt about a famous pirate called Blackbeard. Some of us even made models of pirate ships for homework!

This is what we will be learning during the next few weeks.

Phonics: We have two weeks of consolidation left before we begin learning new Primary 3 phonemes. We are consolidating a-e, u-e and ea (including the sounds from the last four weeks).

Our new spelling words will be –  each, year, away, always (including the spelling words from the last four weeks).

Maths: We have been building on our current knowledge of direction and position looking at compass points and coordinates. We have learnt how to use coordinates to locate a position within a grid. We are currently looking at the four points of a compass. We are learning to use a compass to find north, as well as use our knowledge of turning to work out what compass point we will be facing after a particular turn or series of turns.

Topic: Our topic is Pirates! We have been learning about famous pirates such as Blackbeard, William Kidd and Anne Bonny. We have been learning how to use an atlas to locate some islands and oceans.

Thank you for all your continued support.

Our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening will be held this coming Wednesday. I look forward to meeting you then!
