P7 News November 2016
We have been incredibly busy in P7 this term with lots of exciting things happening in school.
FUN-draising
Last Thursday we once again turned into entrepreneurs for the day as we used our talents to raise lots of money for SCIAF and Children in Need. The P7s have been completely responsible for all the fundraising they have done so far and all the money and skills they have learned is down to their desire, determination and good will. Having enjoyed the busking day so much, we were interested in keeping up our ‘street fayre’ theme and decided to hold a ‘Cool Crafts’ day in the P7 classroom.
Every class in school came to visit our classroom turned craft workshop and made lots of cool crafts ranging from origami to decorating stones picked from Stonehaven beach! Everyone left with a smile on their face and the P7’s started the mammoth tidy up job before counting our total of £256.50 for both Children in Need and SCIAF. Amazing generosity from all at St. Peter’s.
We are looking forward to our third and final fundraiser at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 3rd December with a baking goods/Christmas Crafts stall. We hope to see you there. Thank you for all your generosity.
Maths
As well as all the enterprising work, we have been doing recently we are also working well through our fractions, decimals and percentages. We are enjoying learning through real life contexts and working together.
Literacy
Well done to the Lit Quiz team who did so well at Harlaw Academy earlier this month. They won prizes and books and finished ahead of some Academies to round off a great day’s work. We have been working through parts of speech recently and making sure we all know our Adverbs from our Conjunctions!
Health and Wellbeing
As well as having P.E lessons every week, where we have been recently working on our volleyball skills, we also regularly think about our social and emotional wellbeing through circle time and mindfulness activities.
Aladdin Trouble
Panto season is in full swing and we are getting to grips with all the singing and dancing that comes with this year’s production, ‘Aladdin Trouble’. The children are working very hard to perfect their acting and singing and we appreciate the support you give to them at home to go over their lines and songs.
Parliament Week
Last week, as part of Parliament Week, we were treated to a visit from Kirsty Blackman, our local MP. It was a great opportunity for the P7’s to get a first hand glance into what happens in the world of British politics and Kirsty very kindly answered a variety of questions regarding her role.
