P5 2019

Term 3 learning Primary 5

Term 3 – Learning

Happy New Year to everyone. Hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing Christmas break! Here are some things that P5 will be covering over the next few weeks.

Maths

We will be moving onto fractions, decimals and percentages in the next few weeks. Times tables and division are very important skills to have when working with fractions so any practice that could be completed at home would be a great help!

Literacy

For the month of January, we will be learning about Scots literature, looking at the Doric language, Scottish literature and the famous Scottish poet, Robbie Burns. We will be showcasing some of our learning at an assembly in the coming weeks.

Health and wellbeing

This month we are learning about being active. Already we have looked at the idea of “green exercise” and how we can use the outdoors to get fit and healthy. We will be looking at food and how it provides us with the energy we need.

Topic

After our Scots literature topic, we will be covering “Our historic world” with a focus on Scotland. We will be looking at Mary Queen of Scots and her role in Scottish history.

Other

Our gym days this term are Tuesday and Friday so please remember gym kits on these days. This term, we will have outdoor learning every second week on Wednesdays. The children will be reminded to wrap up warmly. Homework will continue to be handed out on a Tuesday and handed in on a Monday.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
