January in Primary 7

We have had a very busy term since returning after the Christmas holidays. Here are some of the highlights from the past month.

We had a lovely Mass in our classroom and also at St Peter’s Church for our Confirmation Enrolment where we  made commitments to prepare for confirmation by going to Sunday Mass and taking part in lessons at school and speaking to our parents about our faith. We are enjoying having Mrs Martin on Friday mornings for special RE classes. Well done to all the children for welcoming, reading, carrying the gifts, reading prayers and of course singing beautifully to make the Mass so special.

We learned about the Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated and took part in the Confucius Institute (Aberdeen Uni) art competition. Well done to Stephanie who came first in the poster competition across the city. She won tickets for all her family to attend a special celebration event at the Tivolli. We look forward to some more Chinese New year activities next week with Mandarin teachers visiting our school.

For the month of January we have been learning some Scots words and we created some word art pictures with all of the Scottish things we could think of and tried to include some Scots or Doric words too.  Mrs Bain also planned a nice trip for us to the Belmont Cinema where we learned some more Doric words. We also learned about reviewing films and wrote one with as many Doric words as we could fit in. Here are some of the photos from our trip.

We also welcomed back Mrs Armstrong for some Scottish dancing. We helped out the Primary 3’s and Primary 1 and Primary 2 classes learn some new dances.  Well done to all the boys and girls for taking part so enthusiastically and helping the younger classes. It was great to see most of our Golden Rules in action with you all showing kindness, respect and tolerance to the younger pupils.

February is also looking very busy with some trips planned. We will continue to learn about Historic Scotland, focusing on Aberdeen in the Medieval times. Check in again soon for more P7 updates.

Thank you.
