Term 2: Primary 6 news

Term 2 News

Here is an update of some of the Primary 6 learning this term. We have been delighted to welcome Miss Cassley to our classroom and we have been really enjoying her lessons.

Children in Need

Thank you to the amazing Primary 7 boys and girls who created fun activities to celebrate children in need. We had such a great day!

Literacy

This term in our taught writing we have been focusing on personal correspondence. We have written letters of apology and persuasive letters and we have responded to letters of complaint. For the remainder of the term we will be looking at writing narratives!

We are continuing to become reflective readers, reading different types of text to improve our comprehension and understanding. We have been enjoyed our Rising Star and Accelerated Reader books too.

Maths

We have finished our data handling topic, drawing and interpreting different types of charts and graphs. Miss Cassley is now teaching us about patterns and sequences, helping us to start thinking about algebra.

Topic

Our Spiritual World has been a fantastic topic. So far, we have learnt about the customs and beliefs of Buddhism, Sikhism and Hinduism. We have also enjoyed drawing comparisons between these religions and Christianity.

Health and well being

This term, we are learning about social skills and relationships. We have been learning about the 5 steps of empathy and how to be respectful of other people’s views and opinions.

We enjoyed our brain breaks outside each day and our RADS sessions every three weeks. Please make sure pupils have appropriate shoes on for outdoor learning. As winter approaches, please ensure your child is bringing a coat to school every day.

RE

In the run up to Christmas, we will be learning more about the Catholic faith and enjoying the season of Advent.

We celebrated Catholic Education Week in school. We have been learning how Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. We are all trying to be 21st Century saints and have thought about what qualities we admire in the Saints and other people that inspire us.

Month ahead

Christmas will be different this year but we look forward to bringing some Christmas cheer while following the guidelines. We are busy preparing a virtual Christmas show for the parents. Christmas parties and Christmas lunch will go ahead, in different ways, but we will try to ensure all staff and pupils in St Peter’s have a happy Christmas.
