Term 4 – What P6 will be learning

Welcome back! It has been great to have the children back in school; seeing their smiling faces, meeting with friends and using their skills that they developed from online learning in the classroom.

Here is a look at what P6 will be learning this term:

Literacy

We will continue to use Rising Star as our core reading resource. We will also be reading our class novel “Wonder” and developing our reading skills and strategies using this resource.

We will continue with word of the day and V.C.O.P. activities to build our vocabulary and learn new spelling words and strategies.

In writing, we will be focusing on job applications, editorials and instructional writing while also using inspiration from our topic and class novel.

Maths

We are currently learning about angles, learning how to recognise and name angles as well as how to use a protractor to measure and draw angles.

We will continue to do mental maths on a daily basis, focusing on the four operations. Each week some times tables and division activities will be posted on Education City to consolidate learning.

Health and wellbeing

Our health and wellbeing focus will be based on changes, choices and success. We will also have RADS every Friday afternoon and our daily brain break!

Topic

Our whole school topic this term is “Eco World”. We look forward to exploring this topic further as we enter our last term of Primary 6.
