Happy New Year P4!
Term 3
Our IDL in January is called Let’s celebrate and we will be learning about Scotland. We will be learning Scottish dances for our School Ceilidh on the 25th January. We will be also learning Scottish songs, poems and art.
From the 12th February we will have a new project called -How is the weather. We will be learning how the weather is different in different parts of the world, how the weather changes every season and how we can measure it. We will be making wind monitors and sun clocks.
In January in Art we will look at Art of the Scottish artist: Richie Collins and use chalk and oil pastels to create landscape inspired by a local fishing village. We will also look at a range of landscapes of castles in and around Aberdeen.
In Maths in January we will talk about time. We will learn to read time, write time using 12 h clock and 24h. We will talk about our daily routine and what the difference is between am and pm. We will be learning about months of the year, the length of the months and weeks too. Later in the term we will be learning fractions: we will be earning about a whole, 1/2,1/3 and ¾.
In Writing we will be writing poems and stories for our project on Scotland. We will then move to learning about diary entries and how to write instructions when will be making our wind monitors.
In RE we will start preparing for our Sacrament of First Communion. We will learn about the Sacrament of First communion and the importance of attending the Sunday Mass. We will be learning Bible Stories that will help us to understand the meaning of the First Communion and we will learn the necessary prayers.
In PE in January we will be learning how to dance the Scottish dances, our ceilidh dances are Canadian Barn Dance and Strip the Willow.
Our PE day will now be Thursday morning and RADS will still take place on Mondays.
Homework is issued on Monday via Google Classroom and should be completed by the end of the week.
