P1B Term 4

Numeracy

This term we will be learning about time. We will be looking at analogue and digital clocks, learning about o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We will explore this through active learning and exploration.

Our standalone topics will include position and movement, and fractions including doubles and halves.

Literacy

This term we continue to use the Read Write Inc (RWI) programme for our reading, discovering new sounds as we go and exploring texts.

In functional writing we will be writing fact files on North Sea creatures and their habitats to link to our topic, as well as using imaginative writing to create ideas for Mr Grinling the Lighthouse Keeper.

We will also be writing about what we are champions of this term, and sports day, to link to our last topic of We Are the Champions.

Health and Wellbeing

Following the SHANARRI indicators, this term’s focus will be on safe and active. We will look at being safe around roads and water, and taking part in sports on Sports Day.

Interdisciplinary Learning

Our first topic this term is “Silver City by the Sea”, focusing on Aberdeen and all the wonders of the sea around us! We will look at local lighthouses and read the “Lighthouse Keeper” series. We will be looking at North Sea creatures and their habitats.

In our second topic , “We Are The Champions”, we will be learning about local sports champions, as well as learning how we can be champions ourselves.
