P2 Term 1

We have had a great first few weeks in Primary 2, getting to know each other and our new classroom. This term in Numeracy we are looking at number and number processes. This includes counting forward and back, numbers 1-100, adding/subtracting, partitioning numbers and place value.

In literacy, we will continue our Read, write, inc. sessions. We will be looking at different genres of writing linked with our current context for learning ‘We are linguists’. The genres we will be focusing on are personal, functional and imaginative.

Our IDL topics this term are ‘we are linguistics’ which has a French focus, we have looked at numbers, how to say ‘hello, how are you?’ and famous French artists and landmarks. Our future world has a technology focus in which we will be focusing on improving our keyboard and computer skills.

In PE we are focusing on ball skills and improving performance. For the next 3 weeks, we will be looking at basketball skills such as dribbling, throwing and catching and shooting hoops. After that, we will move on to athletics in which we look to record and improve our performance through different exercises.

All children have chosen their pupil voice group for the year which they will attend on a Friday.
