Primary 7 Highlights of Term 1

Term 1 has passed by so quickly! Primary 7 have enjoyed settling into their new class and have established new leadership roles and routines.

Learning

Numeracy: This term we have been focussing on number: estimating and rounding; place value; multiplication; division; subtraction; addition and the order of operations. We have also been learning more about data handling.

Literacy: We enjoy reading and understand its importance. We regularly read for pleasure, take part in small reading group activities and enjoy Reflective Reading opportunities. We continue to write from different genres and plan our writing through our IDL topics.

IDL: Our first context for learning this year was ‘We Are Linguists.’ This topic gave us the opportunity to learn more about France, French speaking countries and to  improve our learning of the language. We enjoyed a French themed Active Adventure Day and even enjoyed tasting some French food!

Our second IDL context for learning is ‘Our Future World.’ Primary 7 are learning all about Artificial Intelligence.

Swimming: We are very fortunate to have been offered the opportunity to attend swimming lessons at Aberdeen Sports Village. We will continue with swimming lessons until 7th November.

St. Machar Transition Day: We had a fantastic morning meeting other primary 7 pupils from local schools at the transition morning held at St. Machar Academy. The young leaders had arranged a fun filled sports morning, giving us the opportunity to work with others and create new friendships!

Macmillan Coffee Morning: We worked with the Primary 1 class to organise, prepare and run a coffee morning for parents, to raise money for Macmillan. We raised over £300 for the charity!
