End of Term 1 – P1
We are now coming to the end of our first term in Primary 1! The learners have settled in well and are doing a great job of following routines in school. We have had lots of fun learning opportunities this term, which will be shared in pictures below!
Learning linked to our new context – ‘Our Future World’ has already started taking place and will continue until the 14th of November. Our main theme in Primary 1 is ‘Daring Designers’ with lots of chances for the class to design and create their own ideas about what a future world might look like and the inventions in it!
Numeracy this term has been based on exploring numbers to 20. We have used concrete materials, such as numicon, to support our understanding of language such as odd and even and more and less. We have also focused on recognition, matching, formation and counting.
Literacy has been largely focused on introducing and revising sounds. By the end of Term 1 we will have covered; m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k, u, b, f, e, l, h, sh, r, j, v. Some groups have began to use their ‘Fred fingers’ pinching each sound on their fingers as they hear it and using this to support them when writing CVC words.
We hope you have a lovely October holiday and look forward to welcoming you back for Term 2 very soon.
