Term 3 in P4/5

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely Christmas break. We have a very busy term ahead, here is what we will be learning this term.

Numeracy

This term we will be exploring money. We will be learning to make totals, add amounts together, use the correct notation to record amounts and how to calculate change needed. We also be exploring fractions, angles/symmetry later on in the term.

Literacy

In literacy, we will be continuing with the Cypic writing approach where our current focus is connectives. We are hoping to reach the 100 club this term in connectives! We will exploring personal and imaginative writing which will link with our IDL topics. We will continue to practice weekly spelling words and reading in class. We will also start a class novel this term called “How to train your Dragon” and are looking forward to completing a range of reflective reading tasks on our novel!

IDL

Our first context for learning topic is “Our Cultural Scotland’ where we will be looking at Scottish artists and re-creating their art work. We will be learning Scottish dances to showcase at our Ceilidh at the end of the month. We are looking forward to a food tasting afternoon to try some Scottish food! We will also be learning some Doric and making our own Doric dictionaries. Our next context for learning topic is “Our Historical Scotland” where will be learning about the history of Vikings.

Other

We will continue our weekly RADS and P.E sessions. We will also have Mr Horton every Friday for music. We will continue our afternoons with Mrs Jadid with a Science and Health and Wellbeing focus.
