Pope Francis Faith Award Update

Primary Six have been busy writing a short piece to tell you about the Pope Francis Faith Award and their progress so far.

Hello, we are P6. This year we are doing the great Pope Francis Faith Award. We have learned about the Gift of Understanding, Piety and Knowledge so far. It’s very fun and exciting. – Written by Kuba

The Pope Francis Faith Award is a fantastic way to display the gifts of the Holy Spirit. There are 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit. These are: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, Fear of the Lord. These are used to grow closer to God. When we use the gifts, we grow as followers of Jesus. To participate in the Pope Francis Faith Award, we must commence actions that show the gifts of the Holy Spirit. For example “I pray every morning before school” is a way to show the gift of Piety. – Written by Morara

The Pope Francis Faith Award is a great way to understand the gifts of the Holy Spirit and follow the ways of Jesus. – Written by Tim.

The Pope Francis Faith Award is an opportunity to draw children closer to God. We engage in activities which draw us closer to the Holy Spirit. We take part in holy activities, such as encouraging others to be a more effective member in their Parishes from a young age. The award takes 2 years to complete. At the end, our hope is to engage more children to build a strong relationship with God – Written by Amanda O.

We have learned that Understanding helps us to have an insight of what God wants us to do and tells us to do good. It helps us to to be like God’s friends, following the good news and passing it on to others. – Written by Amanda I.

The gift of understanding teaches us that God loves each and every one of us. – Written by Kaylah, Morara, Pegasus, Nifemi & Emma.

The gift of knowledge is the gift that helps us to know ourselves, God and the world around us. It is about more than just facts, knowledge is our map to know where our faith is leading us and what our Church is about. – Written by Natalia

Through the gift of Piety we can show our knowledge of God by praying to God, making time to go to Church on Sunday and we can pray for everyone around us. – Written by Amanda I, Natalia, Maya, Gideon, Beno & Tim.

The gift of knowledge helps us to know what God wants us to do for example looking after His planet. Written by Amanda O, Joshua, Guayinpi & Daniel.

We thank our families and Parishes for supporting us so far on our journey and we look forward to updating you on more of our actions in the future.
