Welcome back our last term in Primary 6!
We have a very busy term ahead of us with lots to look forward to. We already have a trip booked to visit Duthie Park and a bible exhibit at Fernilea Gospel Hall. We also have the excitement of sports day and potted sports alongside lots of opportunities for outdoor learning during our warmer months. This term pupils will also be going back in time for the summer show performing music from the year they were born.
For math we are focusing on measuring this term looking at volume, area, length and perimeter. Pupils will continue to develop their problem solving skills whilst also focusing on algebra, coordinates and probability. We will be looking at how we can use these skills in real life scenarios.
Primary 6 are continuing to develop their writing skills focusing on their vocabulary, conjunctions and openers. We are developing our reading skills using different reading strategies and we encourage pupils to read at home and complete the online reading tasks set weekly in their homework slides.
We will continue to have PE coaching sessions on a Monday afternoon and will now have PE on a Friday morning. Please ensure that all pupils wear suitable clothing on these days and have appropriate footwear. This term we have sports day and potted sports and we will use our PE sessions to develop confidence for these events.
Pupils in primary 6 enjoy our IDL topics, starting this term we are traveling back in time to the start of WW2. We will be focusing on the timeline and events of the war, creating ration books, newspaper articles and building our own trenches. Our final IDL this school year is our great adventure with pupils using their imagination to create activities and stories to share with pupils from the junior end of the school.
The class learning will continue to be shared every week on our google classroom. We also encourage pupils to share any achievements they have outside the classroom, the school celebrates all achievements with pupils having the opportunity to share these with the class.
Finally, please ensure that all pupils come to school wearing school uniforms and have a change of shoes to wear indoors. Pupils should take a water bottle and a healthy snack to school everyday.
