Term 4 In Primary 7
We are very excited to be starting our fourth and final term at St. Peter’s R.C. School and are looking forward to many more learning experiences and having lots of fun!
Please find below a brief overview of our planned learning this term:
Interdisciplinary Learning
We begin the term by learning about ‘The Tudors’ in our whole school context for learning ‘A Trip In A Time Machine.’ We will also be preparing for our school show, presenting two songs from 2014 (the year that most of our P7 class pupils were born).
In June, we will begin our new context for learning ‘A Great Adventure’ where primary 7 will be developing their athletic skills in preparation for sports day, hosting a picnic for parents and visiting our new schools.
Literacy
Writing opportunities are linked to our IDL contexts. With the help of our own research, we will be creating our own factfiles, posters and newspaper reports. We will also be developing our imaginative writing skills and creating our own recounts of our memories at primary school.
We continue to read our class novel The Explorer by Kathrine Rundell and our reflective reading lessons will be based on this and other literacy based resources . Daily reading opportunities through Accelerated Readers and reading groups will continue.
In Listening and Talking, pupils will be encouraged to present their research projects to the class and will continue to be kind and respectful audience members, providing their peers with constructive feedback.
Numeracy
To begin the term, we will be looking at angles and transformation. We will be learning to use mathematical language to describe and classify a range of angles identified within shapes in the environment. We will also learn to identify complementary and supplementary angles, identify missing angles and accurately measure and draw a range of angles using rulers and protractors.
We will be able to interpret maps, models or plans with simple scales and record the location of a point on a grid using coordinator notation.
Looking further ahead, we will be learning more about time, calculating durations and converting between 12 and 24 hour notation.
Health and Wellbeing
We will continue to learn from the SHANARRI indicators, this term focussing on being active and included.
PE lessons this term will consist of athletics and cricket. Sports coaching sessions will also be on a weekly basis.

We are so lucky to continue our Roots of Empathy learning with our ‘Tiny Teacher’ Baby Glen and his mum Lindsay. It has been a privilege to watch him grow and develop over the last few months.
Residential Trip
We are very excited to be going away on our residential trip to Tomintoul in May. We will be participating in lots of exciting activities including a visit to Pluscarden Abbey and Landmark.
Religious Education
We are a Roman Catholic school and are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation in June. We also continue to respect and learn about other world religions.
Home Learning
Homework is set and published on the Google Classroom every Monday with the expectation that is completed for the Friday of the same week.
