Term 3
Literacy
This term, we have been able to learn about a variety of genres in our taught writing lessons. Our writing is linked to the current IDL contexts which are covered within the term. We completed fact files on Robert Burns and imaginative writing about Nessie. We completed imaginative pieces of writing linking to our IDL context of Malawi based on a short video that we watched. We have also been able to write about character description and setting based on the video. We have completed recounts on our trips to St Peter’s church and a local Mosque.
Numeracy
This term, we have been learning about multiplication and division, angles and data handling. We have become more confident with our times tables and understanding of short division. We have learned the different angles and how to measure right angles. We have been able to interpret information displayed in tables and graphs and have worked alongside primary 5/6 in understanding and completing bar charts.
PE
This term, we learned our Scottish dances for our school Ceilidh, before focusing on gymnastics. We have been able to learn a variety of balances, rolls and jumps and been able to create our own gymnastics routine with great control. We have recently just finished our tennis block in which we learned about ball control and striking the ball towards our partners / targets.
RE
This term, we were preparing ourselves to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Our learning was targeted towards this to help us gain an understanding of the significance of receiving the Sacrament. We had a very successful trip to St Peter’s Church on Thursday 19th March in which some of us received the Sacrament.
IDL
Our IDL contexts this term were Scotland, Malawi and Islam. We have learned about Robert Burns and learned Scottish dances (The Flying Scotsman & The Virginia Reel). We learned about poverty in our topic about Malawi and compared different aspects of poverty to our lives in Scotland. We have recently just finished our topic of Islam in which we learned about different aspects of another religion, having a great experience in visiting a local Mosque to gain a better and first-hand experience of another religion.
