Maths Week in P3

This week Primary 3 have been enjoying Maths week.

We have started each day with a maths problem to solve. We discussed the strategies we used to get our answer. We have also had a “number of the day” to find as many ways as possible to get to that number.

Alongside this we have had outdoor lessons on estimation. We used our feet to work out how wide we thought the playground was.

We enjoyed working with the Primary 7s on a Maths trail where we explored the school grounds to apply our maths skills. We looked out for shapes, we worked out the area of the chess board, we counted windows and many more items around school.

We also heard from one of our parents how maths is used in the workplace. We enjoyed hearing how maths is important to everyone.

Many of us completed extra challenges as part of our homework and did a great job.

Overall we really enjoyed Maths Week. Thank you to all families for supporting your child with exploring maths around the home and beyond and for coming along to see P3’s great work.
