Primary 2 Red: Scottish Literature
We have enjoyed our Scotland topic with a focus on learning about Scottish stories and culture. We tried different foods and learned dances with our buddies. We were very pleased that so many parents were able to join us for our ceilidh.
Children worked with their families at home to find out about Scotland. They made super posters which we used in class. Learners enjoyed sharing facts and pictures with their peers.
There has been a focus on structured play throughout the topic. We set up various challenge areas :
- a Scottish bank where we used our skills to count and we also learned about different types of money around the world.
- a Scottish book corner where we read a variety of stories, poems, fact books and cookery books.
- a globe for us to find Scotland and other countries.
Our new maths topic is measure and we will learn a lot through play.
For our assembly on Friday, we worked very hard to learn ‘Heads, shoulders, knees and toes’ and ‘Jack and Jill’ in Scots and we shared our descriptions of Katie Morag. Performing in front of our parents and the children in P2 blue and all the P1 children helped us to develop our confidence and self-esteem.
We enjoyed listening to the fantastic performances of all the other children at the assembly too. Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend.
