P6 2021-2022

Welcome to P6

Welcome to P6. It has been lovely to be back together for the first month of the new term, we can’t believe how fast it has gone! In this post we will share some of the highlights of our learning so far.

Maths

In maths we have been learning about estimating and rounding. We have used estimating and rounding to make complicated problems more simple to work out mentally – like 3980 + 4201 is approximately 4000 + 4200. – Olivia.

We have been learning more deeply about place value for numbers up to a hundred thousand. We have played some maths games together which has been fun and we have also took part in some education city games. We like learning in different ways – independently and with classmates – Amiyah.

Health and Wellbeing

In P.E we have been doing circuit training. We have lots of different stations set up and have a minute to see how many times we can do an exercise. We then repeated the circuit two more times to try and get our best score. It was lots of fun as we worked as a team to motivate each other. Also, creating our class charter has helped us focus on our rights. We have used these rights as a way to make learning in our class safer and happier – Roksanna.

Literacy

We have been working hard in our reading, writing and spelling. In literacy we have written both a film review of the short film ‘Boundin’ and have also recently completed book reviews. As a class we are currently reading ‘You’re a bad man Mr Gum’. It’s very funny! In addition to this we have been focusing on tools for writing and what strategies we can use to make our writing stand out. We are also getting better at listening and talking through have class discussions around the things we learn in literacy – Amara.

R.E

To celebrate Mary’s birthday we have learned important facts about this feast day for example Mary’s feast day is celebrated on her birthday rather than the day they died – like most other saints – Michelle.

We remember what Our Lady brought to the world when she gave birth to Jesus. We made some crafts to celebrate this day. They are crafts of Mary and we offered a prayer to Mary around our artwork – Khloe.
