Term 2 in Primary 5/6

We are really looking forward to term 2 and the lead up to the festive period. 

Numeracy:

This term we will be looking at addition and subtraction up to 2 decimal points with carrying and exchanging. To expand our knowledge in problem solving we will also look at word problems with multiple steps.  We will also look at money around the time of the Christmas fayre to help us with our selling. We will look at making totals and calculating the correct change. 

Literacy:

This year we are continuing the CYPIC approach to writing. We will begin our term still looking at vocabulary. Once we have made the 100% club, we will then move onto openers. Through CYPIC we will be focussing on many different genres of text, which will like through our IDL topics.. We will continue to focus on spelling and reading fluency through using Big Cat and Book Detective. 

IDL:

We will continue with our  ‘Myths and Legends’ topic where we will explore different mythical creatures and legendary tales. Along with creating our very own fairytale book. We will then move on to our next topic which is ‘Preformers and Preformances’. This is where we will complete our Pantomime ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’. Also, we will be completing our enterprise as we create something to sell at the Christmas fayre. 

Other Information:

We will continue our sports coaching session on Tuesdays. We will also be going to Aberdeen Sports Village on Mondays to complete Multisports. Please ensure children wear appropriate footwear for this. On Wednesday we will have a music session with Ms Hamilton.
