P7 2025-2026

Term 2 in P7

Primary 7 are beginning the new term by preparing for our assembly on Remembrance. This important day allows us to understand the impact of war on people, families and communities both in Scotland and across the world. It also helps us to reflect on the importance of peace and thankfulness.

We have a very busy term ahead of us. Please see the details below!

Numeracy

In Numeracy we will be learning more about Negative Numbers. We will be using our understanding of how the number line extends to include numbers less than zero and will investigate how these numbers occur and are used in real life contexts.

We will also be extending our learning on money, comparing costs to determine affordability, learning more about profit and loss, and understanding the benefits and risks of using bank and credit cards to purchase goods.

Literacy

We will continue to read for enjoyment and to improve our fluency and comprehension when reading together. We will use taught writing opportunities to make advertisements for our panto performance in December. We will also be using our IDL contexts for learning ‘Myths and Legends’ and ‘Performers and Performances’  for writing opportunities such as – recounts, diary entries and persuasive posters. Spelling and grammar lessons will also take place on a weekly basis.

Context For Learning

Before we come to the end of our Myths and Legends topic, we will have the opportunity to visit Tillydrone Library. We are also creating our own original fairy tales, making book covers for them, and plan to read each of our stories to our Primary 1 Buddies!

From November 17th our new context will be ‘Performers and Performances’.

We will be extremely busy getting prepared to perform in our annual school pantomime. This year our Primary 7 class, along with help from P4 – P6, will be performing in Pirates of the Curry Bean!

We will be: learning lines; singing; making props and learning how to project our voices, in preparation for the big performance. We hope that you will all be able to come and see us on the big day!

Roots of Empathy

Our Roots of Empathy programme is going very well and we are looking forward to having Baby Glen visit us for our third visit this term when we will be learning about Caring and Planning For Baby.
