P5 2018

Primary 5 – Term 3

We had a lovely time celebrating Christmas before the holidays. We performed in our school pantomime “Pirates of the Curry Bean”, enjoyed our class Christmas party and were a great audience at the “Cinderella” pantomime that came to visit the school.

Primary 5 – Term 3

Here is a look at some of the learning that will be happening in Primary 5 this term.

Maths

This term we will be looking at fractions, decimals and percentages. At the moment we are comparing fractions and learning more about mixed and improper fractions. Education City games will be assigned weekly. Any extra practice that can be done at home with times tables would be a great help!

Literacy

This term we will be starting our class novel, “The Last Wolf”, by Michael Morpurgo. Many of our literacy activities will be based around the text.

Topic

Our topic this term is “Castles”, particularly focusing on Scottish castles. The pupils will be learning about the features of a castle, the geography of castles in Scotland and life in a castle. They are all very keen to learn more about our historical world.

Health and wellbeing

We have been busy learning some Scottish ceilidh dancing and Doric poetry in preparation for Burns night. We are all looking forward to showcasing our learning!

Pupil voice groups

Each child in the class has joined up to a pupil voice group – Eco, playground, learning council, health committee and rights respecting. We are all excited to play our part to make St Peter’s RC Primary an even better school!
